The TSSAA girls basketball state tournament tips off today at 9:30 a.m. with eight games.
That includes four Class 4A quarterfinal contests and four Class 1A quarterfinals. This marks the first time the TSSAA has tinkered with eight state tournament games in a single day. The high school association will play eight games each day of the tournament until Saturday's four championship games.

Wayne County dominates second half, cruises to semifinals
The Lady Cats outscored the Red Devils, 27-13, to win the quarterfinal game, 61-40.
Blair Baugus led the way with 24 points. Anna Gore scored 18 points to lead the Red Devils.

The Lady Cats outscored the Red Devils, 13-8, in the third quarter to go up, 47-35.

Pickett County cruises to 23-point victory over Cloudland
Pickett County made its run in the second quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 54-31 win over Cloudland in the Class 1A state quarterfinal.
The Lady Bobcats will face the winner of Wayne County-South Fulton at 2:15 p.m. in Friday's state semifinal.

Moore County advances in 1A with overtime win over Clay County
Moore County advanced to the TSSAA Class 1A state semifinals with a 58-55 overtime win over Clay County Wednesday.
Clay County scored the first bucket in overtime but Moore County went on to score the next seven points, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Katie Fletcher that turned a two-point deficit to a four-point lead.
Fletcher finished with a game-high 21 points for Moore County (26-8). Halle Buford led Clay County (22-11) with 18 points.

Clay County and Moore County are tied at 48 heading into overtime.
The Lady Bulldogs had a shot to win it, but it rimmed out just before the buzzer sounded. Elle Graham's layup with just over 30 seconds left tied things at 48. She has 15 for the Lady Raiders. Buford has 14 for Clay County.

Moore County leads Clay County 36-35 after three quarters in the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Moore County started the third on a 7-0 run and Clay County didn't score its first points of the quarter until 2:23 left on two free throws. But that ignited a 5-0 Lady Bulldog run to cut the lead from six to one.
Madison Dingler has 13 points to lead Moore County while Bella Ashlock has 11 for Clay County.

Madison Hayes' layup at the buzzer has given Clay County a 28-27 lead over Moore County in the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Moore County led much of the half, but went on a scoring drought of more than three minutes to end the half.
Bella Ashlock and Halle Buford each have eight points for Clay County. Katie Fletcher has 13 points for Moore County.

Moore County and Clay County are tied at 15 at the end of the first quarter of the TSSAA Class 1A state quarterfinals.
Bella Ashlock's layup near the buzzer tied it up for the Lady Bulldogs after The Lady Raiders had gone on a 5-0 run.
Ashlock has six for Clay County while Elle Graham has seven for Moore County.
Greenfield holds off North Green to advance in Class 1A
Rayanna Fisher had 21 points, including 9-of-10 from the foul line as Greenfield advanced to the Class 1A semifinal with a 55-49 win over North Greene at Murphy Center. Greenfield will play the winner of Moore County-Clay County in Friday's semifinal.
Emma Alford added 12 points and seven rebounds while Anastyn Vujicic added 11 points. The Lady Jackets had to hold off North Greene's repeated attempt to take the lead. The game was briefly tied at 20 late in the second quarter but the Huskies could never get over the hump.
Miss Basketball finalist, Haley Bailey, led North Greene with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including four offensive rebounds. Greenfield scored 16 points off 15 North Green turnovers.
North Greene looking to overtake Greenfield entering 4th quarter
Greenfield has managed to keep North Greene at arm's-length but the Huskies won't go away. Greenfield hold a 44-40 lead entering the final period.
Both teams continue its hot shooting with Greenfield shooting 56% and North Greene hitting at a 52% clip.

North Greene's Haley Bailey knocked down a 3-pointer in the final seconds that cuts Greenfield's lead to 33-30 heading into halftime of their Class 1A quarterfinal.
Greenfield opened a nine-point lead, 29-20, with 2:44 left in the second quarter before North Greene rallied to close the gap. Emma Alford leads Greenfield with 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting with three rounds in the first half. Rayanna Fisher has 10 at the break.
Bailey's 14 points lead the Huskies as North Greene has connected on 5-of-7 from behind the 3-point arc in the first half.

Both teams have started the game off efficiently but it's Greenfield who holds the first-quarter lead on North Green in the Class 1A state quarterfinal. Greenfield is shooting 56% from the field with six points off turnovers. North Green was shooting 67% from the field after the opening period.

Bradley Central rolls to 4A semifinal in dominating fashion
No. 1-ranked Bradley Central made quick work of Clarksville as both teams returned to the Class 4A state tournament. The Lady Bears rolled to a 62-30 win to advance to the state semifinal at 11 a.m. Friday.
Kimora Fields led Bradley Central with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Harmonie Ware added 14 points and nine boards.
Clarksville was led by Miss Basketball finalist and Clemson signee Imari Berry, who finished with 14 points.

Bradley Central has picked up where it left off since winning last season's state championship.
The Bearettes lead Clarksville, 39-17, at halftime of Wednesday's final Class 4A quarterfinal. Star sophomore Kimora Fields, who has an offer from Mississippi State, has 14 points.
Clemson signee Imari Berry has six points but is just 2-of-10 shooting for the Wildcats.
Coffee County advances to state semifinals
Coffee County won its first TSSAA state tournament game since winning a state championship in 1993. The Red Raiders beat Dobyns-Bennett 48-39 Wednesday in a Class 4A quarterfinal.
Natalie Barnes, a sophomore, led Coffee County with 18 points. Teammate Channah Gannon had 12 and Olivia Vinson finished with seven.
Dobyns-Bennett's Caroline Hill and Kaydence Black scored 11 apiece.

Cleveland beats Lincoln County to reach state semifinals
Cleveland beat Lincoln County in convincing fashion, 60-44 , to advance to the TSSAA Class 4A state semifinals where they play Bartlett at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Cleveland led for over 29 minutes of the game but they were tested in the third quarter when Lincoln County worked themselves back to within two points. Lauren Hurst led the Blue Raiders as they reestablished a comfortable lead, finishing with 20 points on 6-for-11 shooting, while also going 7-for-7 from the stripe.
Alyssa Petty led the comeback attempt for Lincoln County in the third, finishing with a team high 16 points while Abby Bryan added 11 points on 4-for-15 shooting.
Cleveland reestablishes lead at end of third despite Lincoln County's attempt at a comeback
Cleveland lead Lincoln County 42-34 at the end of the third quarter, after Lincoln County mounted a comeback closing the gap to just two points late in the quarter.
Lincoln's comeback came on the back of its defense, posting eight steals thus far in the game and forcing 14 turnovers. Cleveland was able to reestablish its lead thanks to a couple big buckets from Ilianis Rodrguez, who leads the team with 10 points along with Lauren Hurst.
Alyssa Petty has been the primary scoring threat for Lincoln County, posting a team high 12 points through three quarters, on 50% shooting. Lincoln County made 2-of-3 attempts from beyond the arc to help close the gap, but Cleveland regained control making three shots from deep themselves down the stretch.

Cleveland has held onto its lead going into the half. Efficiency has been key for the Blue Raiders, shooting 12-for-23 from the field as a team in the first half.
Lauren Hurst leads the way for Cleveland with 10 points and six rebounds. Abby Bryan and Alyssa Petty lead Lincoln County with eight points apiece.

Cleveland shot 8-for-15 from the floor, going 2-for-5 from beyond the arc. Lincoln County shot 5-for-13 in the first quarter while only canning 1-of-5 three point attempts.
Lauren Hurst has led the way thus far for the Blue Raiders with eight points. Defense has also been a determining factor with Cleveland racking up two blocks in the opening quarter.
Bartlett needed time, but passes Sevier County in TSSAA basketball state tournament quarterfinals
Bartlett breezed to the TSSAA girls basketball state championship game in 2023. The Lady Panthers' first step in this year's tournament was a bit more difficult.
Bartlett overcame 13 first-half turnovers, including 10 in the first quarter, to beat Sevier County 54-42 at Middle Tennessee State's Murphy Center.
Bartlett is 3-1 over the past two seasons in the TSSAA state tournament and play the Cleveland-Lincoln County winner at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Carsyn Loveday and Kinley Loveday lead the Bearettes with five points apiece on a combined 4-of-10 shooting. Sevier County is shooting 8-of-23 from the field.
Bartlett has cooled on its turnovers after 10 in the first quarter. Bartlett had just three in the second quarter.
Morgan Williams and Zoey Rixter each have six points. The Panthers are shooting 5-of-11 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Sevier County leads Bartlett after first quarter
Bartlett has turned the ball over 10 times to Sevier County and trails 15-9 in the first quarter of their Class 4A state quarterfinal.
Sevier County shot just 4-of-13 from the field in the first quarter, but was 6-of-11 from the free throw line. Bartlett hasn't missed a shot, going 2-of-2 from the field, including 1-of-1 from the 3-point line and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
